Argentine Dogo

Including until 1978 between the utility races, the Argentine Dogo as of that date, has been incorporated to the sign races because, in addition to being an optimal dog of day-care center, also it is used in his country of origin, for the hunting of puma, the pecarí and the wild boar. By its extreme ferocidad, and not only with the animals that hunt but, also with its resemblances - until the point that in some countries is made him fight in fight spectacles is not certainly a dog easy to have in house, even, because it needs much space.
The creator of this race was an Argentine doctor of Cordova, the Dr Antonio Martinez, whom he loved to have a dog adapted for the hunting of puma. For this reason, he came to Europe where he acquired the best dogs of different races (like the Bull to terrier, the Bulldog, the Spanish Mastín, the Mastín of the Pyrenees, the German Dogo of the variety arlequín, the Dogo of Bordeaux, the Pointer, the Boxer, the Irish Galgo and different dogs from fight).
The crossover of all these races at the beginning of century began and, in 1931, the new race perfectly was fixed. Since then it has been had in great consideration in Argentina, where today enough it is extended. In Europe she has been well-known for few years and thanks to a reduced number of enthusiastic that has concerned of that country some units.

The result of this long series of crossovers was the obtaining of a very resistant and robust, of massive structure and muscular dog in all the parts of the body, insensible to the pain, able to fight with animals greater than he and to kill them. With the completely white layer, not to confuse it with the prey that is going away to lower, the Argentine Dogo difference of the other dogs also by its behavior: it barks rarely, as not to almost want to make notice his presence but, when it attacks, it really gives fear. In fact it could not be of another way if one thinks about the races with which ?it has been constructed? to east dog and of which has been wanted to transmit to him indeed, the characteristics that make it more ferocious. All the dogs, and by all means also the Dogo, beyond the natural terrain features that present/display from the birth, assimilate a series of slight knowledge distributed by the man, since dogs do not exist that are born ferocious and mordedores. They become such by bad treatments or irrational education during which they do not manage to include/understand what is what they must and they do not have to do. These cases, possible acts of ferocidad and violence, are not certainly imputable to the animal but to its master.

Height and weight. Raised to the cross of 60 to 65 cm. Weight of 40 to 45 kg.

Head. Massive, convex skull in the anteroposterior and cross-sectional sense. Face of he himself wide which the skull. Black Trufa. Pigmented narrow black lips.

Eyes. Dark or it countersinks well distanced to each other.

Coat. Completely white.

FEEDING. The nutritional necessities for this powerful and untiring bloodhound, have been calculated, like ration of maintenance, between daily 1,900 and 2,100 Kcal. It is an animal that needs, if it is used for the hunting, of a diet in which the values are duplicated or tripled that are indicated above. To the units in the heat of activity, is not advisable to provide carbohydrates to them in excess since in relation to the equal fats, amounts, its power content is inferior. In the units in rest, the amount of fats must stay within the limits of the necessities so that they do not incur, because of an excessive ingestion, in the obesity.

DAILY CARES. Provided with a layer of short, dense and smooth hair, it must stay clean by means of the daily use of a glove of horsehairs, alternating with one franela, that will go the body mainly.

WITH THE VETERINARIAN. If the puppy is born with spurs, it is come immediately to his amputation
