canine Brucelosis
The brucelosis is a bacterial disease of sporadic appearance, that is pronounced in all the dogs, but with a greater frequency in those animals of race destined to reproductive aims.
I infect also takes place by venereal route and by the ingestion of infectious remainders. The puppies become infected in the uterus as a result of the location of these microorganisms in the placenta and is cause of mortality in puppies.
In the gestantes dogs it produces abortions and testicular inflammation and sterility in male dogs. As the ill female can eliminate these bacteria with the vaginal flow and it tinkles it, such animals are a potential danger for those new born and even adult and also, possibly, for the man.
This disease affects other organs like the ocular globe producing a denominated pathology uveitis, that is characterized by changes of color of the rainbow and inflammation, that responds to the treatment but always there are recidivas. It also affects, the intervertebrales spaces (discoespondilitis) that visualize by means of x-rays.
The brucelosis is a disease of very slow course, therefore, with dark and confused signs, which causes that many patients are not taken to the consultation. The death by brucelosis rarely happens.
The medical treatment is made with specific antibiotics of the type of the tetraciclinas and estreptomicinas, the use of these medicines is prolonged and the animal must be put under periodic controls.
The measures of prevention to avoid the dissemination of the disease, are the castration as much in males as in ill females, due to the genital origin of the transmission.
It is necessary to have it in account like zoonosis, although brucellas does not present/display the gravity of others animals, but the possibility exists of I infect human beings, the disease is of slight character and responds to the therapeutic one with antibiotics, but the people who contact with ill animals must know the possibility I infect.
