Fleas
The fleas (Ctenocephalides felis and canis), anywhere in the world, constitute one of the most common affections of dogs and cats and their punctures cause serious annoyances to the animals with injuries in the skin and an upheaval or problem for the proprietors of the mascots.
They are fed with blood of the animal, in periods that vary of 20 minutes to 2 hours and can get to have a period of uninformed of 18 months.
The puncture is painful and very pruriginosa (picazón), therefore the animal rasca and the skin is injured.
The animals do not rest nor feed themselves in suitable form producing a progressive enflaquecimiento, can be anemic and the anemia can be by bad feeding or by the action of the flea, that has a 1/2 capacity to ingest mm3 and as it fills, it eliminates blood by rectal route.
The last pair of legs very is developed what facilitates the jump.
The fleas when they are hungry and there are no dogs and cats, parasitan or they rise the man.
These parasites, sometimes, are infested by a tapeworm, very common in dogs and cats, Diphylidium call caninum, when the dog or the cat eats the flea when they bite by picazón, ingest this one larvaria form of the tapeworm that is in the flea, and in the digestive apparatus of the dog or cat the adult tapeworm is developed, that is that in this case, the flea behaves like an intermediary guest of another parasite that will be developed in adult form in the intestine of the mascot.
The biological cycle of these external parasites is pronounced with a parasitic stage on the animals, constituted by the adult stage, and a stage of free life represented by eggs, larvae, pupas and fed adults, who live in environment, not being this one, a reinfestación source when the conditions of temperature and humidity are the adapted ones (summer), increasing the population of fleas in considerable form.
In order to carry out an effective control of these parasites, one is due to control the adult fleas that are on the animal and the larvarios stages represented by the new parasites that share environment with the dogs and cats.
Different insecticide products on the animal like baths, necklaces, shampúes, dusts, sprays, oral tablets and the last products are used that have turned out to be very effective, consist of a pipette that is placed on the back of the animal, without being toxic for he himself, eliminating the adult states and interrupting the biological cycle of them immature stages (eggs, pupas, larvae), and have a prolonged residual power, applying them with intervals of 4 weeks.
